Photo Tiles FAQ

* I have a digital photo. What's the best way to send it to you?

The best way to send a digital image is via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
For best results, the resolution of the images should be at least 300 dpi for a 4" size photo or
with an image taken with a camera that is 2 Megapixels and higher.

* I don't have software to crop my images square before sending?

Just send in the digital photo and it will be cropped square for you. Best judgement will be
used in cropping. If you want to see how the image will look before its put onto tile please
indicate in your email that you want a preview sent to you before the image is place on tile.
Wider angle shots are usually more suitable for cropping as close-ups may crop out subjects.

* If I spill wine on the tile surface will the image stain?

No, the image on the tile is waterproof and any liquid that gets on
the surface of the tile can be rinsed off with mild soap and water.

* Can the tile safely be used as a coaster for hot drinks or plate from the oven?

Yes, the image on the tile can withstand temperatures up to 400°F
without sustaining damage.

* Will the photographic image on the tile wear off?

No, the tile is specially coated so the image will be embedded in the tile surface
permanently. As the tile surface is scratch resistant it can handle mugs or
glasses with ease. For heavier tile use, a urethane can be applied to the image surface.

* I don't have a digital photo image file to send in. Can I send in a photograph instead?

Yes, you can send in a photograph that is at least 4"x6" (max 8"x10") in size
and it will be scanned for you. Keep in mind that the images will be cropped square
for tile placement, so be sure to specify if you want the image specially cropped or send
an email requesting for a preview before image is placed on tile.

* How do I decide what type of tile to use for my images?

There are currently five different tiles to choose from and each of them will show a different rendition of the photograph (image) being used. Here are some tips for choosing the type of tile.

White Marble - use this stone for images that have some "white" in them so that this color will be visible. Works well for images of fruits, buildings, people, and black and white photos. A very versatile stone.

Natural Marble - this stone has a slightly smoother surface than the white marble and works well for most images.

Tumbled or Decco Stone - use this stone for a softer, warmer portrayal of an image. This works well for sea scapes and also for artwork and is a popular choice for many images.

Glass - this tile gives a full-color vibrant representation of the image being used. You can see how an image is likely to appear by taking a photograph and putting in under a 3/8" piece of glass. There is a slight blueish hue to the tile as a result of the type of tempered glass being used.

Glow-Tile - this unique tile works well for placement in bars or low-lighted areas as it glows for 8-10 hours after exposure to light.
